Three in a Row for Yorkshire Laser Storeman

Yorkshire Laser employee Duncan Perry who works as the storeman at the Castleford based sheet metal and laser cutting firm is looking to make it three in a row as he attempts to qualify for the WMO World Karate Championships in 2016.
Duncan has previously competed in Rugby (UK) and Portugal and is taking 9 people from his Castleford and Selby based team the Zenku Kai Karate Club to Warwickshire for the WMO British Championships, in February of this year.
If the 47 year old karate mad storeman from Yorkshire Laser can qualify for a third successive year it would be no mean feat with Zenku Kai only being established three years ago.
Of the nine people going the youngest is only 11 years old. The Zenku Kai specialise in teaching karate to local youngsters and have been accredited by Selby and Wakefield councils as children’s university training centre.
Zenku Kai means going forward in Japanese and Kai means school, something that Duncan and his partner, Tracey Kite, the head coach of the school are very passionate about.
Ahead of the championship Duncan said: “This is an incredible opportunity for both the club and myself to represent our country at the world karate championships in Spain in October of this year, we’re very proud to compete in Rugby, but would be honoured to represent the UK.”
