Tributes to long serving Quality Manager
COLLEAGUES at Yorkshire Laser and Fabrication have paid tribute to their Quality Manager as they bid him a long and happy retirement.
Ivor Goodenough is one of Yorkshire Laser and Fabrication’s longest serving employees having worked for the firm for more than 16 years. During that time, he has held a variety of senior management roles and has been instrumental in transforming YLF from a back street fabrication firm in Castleford to one of Yorkshire’s premier sheet metal fabrication sub-contractors today.
Before joining YLF, Ivor worked for a lighting company where he was apprentice manager. Amongst the hundreds of young engineers that he was responsible for training were Cheryl Reidy, Head of Operations and Russ Capstick – both of whom have joined YLF in the last few years and were delighted to be reunited with their former mentor.
Head of Design Russ said: “It’s ironic that Ivor was there at the start of my career and we’re back working together as he comes to the end of his. I learned a lot from Ivor in those early days; things that have stood me in good stead for years to come.”
Matt Orford, MD of YLF, paid tribute to the outgoing Quality Manager. “Over the last 16 years Ivor has proven to be kind, honest, even tempered, fair, hardworking and diligent. He has always been as passionate for the wellbeing of his staff as he has for that of the company and it’s fair to say, that without Ivor’s influence and determination, YLF wouldn’t be where we are today,” he said.
“Many people have come and gone in the history of YLF, but none will be remembered or missed or, most importantly, respected, as much as Ivor. If anyone has earned a rest, its Ivor and all his colleagues at YLF send him love and best wishes for a long and happy retirement.”
